Art collective
A Way to Improve Artistic Connection
More collaborative projects
This can look like people sharing more frequently what they're working on, and having norms of including others or offering yourself on a project
This will also naturally include collaborative projects which support NEO Eden as an entity--things like website design, events, and archiving
More awareness of others ideas
This can simply be a way of more frequently celebrating each others' work, especially more minor things that would fly under the radar
This can also be a way of passing ideas onto others, and picking up ideas off of others, where you're not feeling like you can bring it to life yourself
A Way to Increase Artistic Output
Awareness of ideas boosts productivity
Whether it's simply from exposure to ideas, or by picking up someone's stale idea, talking about and sharing artistic ideas is a way to get more energy behind artistic projects
Feeling like someone is "watching" your project may encourage you to keep moving it forward
Strength in numbers creates opportunities for exposure through sales
You might not make things for sale if you think you'll only be able to throw a couple things together, but if it were alongside 2 or 3 other people's things, then it'd be like 6-10 things available for sale and that feels substantial
A Way to Increase Exposure/Notoriety
Placing art next to other art
The website/archive can function like a kind of art gallery--it's easy to glide from one work by one artist to another by another artist
The art feels more important when it's surrounded by other art
The art feels more distinct when it's in a collection of a bunch of art from one artist, surrounded by a bunch of art from other artists
It's easier to sell
See "Strength in numbers creates opportunities for exposure through sales" above for notes about increase in saleable art. Selling art can also give it a sense of importance, legitimacy, and interest
Sales can also put the artwork in an environment which confers legitimacy and importance ("sales" is linked here because we ought to get into much more detail about these environments
Mystique and Grandeur are potent
The website will be shocking. The effort which goes into it will be apparent. And yet, it's not obviously a vessel for sales, not obviously a brand
Grandeur is only a delusion if you're deluded--if it's grand, it's fuckin' grand. People go see big theatrical performances, visit Wikipedia for referencing, and hang out on poo-poo-bad-Twitter. Big stuff goes hard
Centered around a self-hosted website
Website is an archive
Archive is dressed up as not an archive
Should be fun to interact with
The site should have the appearance of navigating some sort of world or environment, rather than simply looking at a menu & files
Different sections of the site should be dedicated to different sections of artistic works
Website is a community space
Website houses a forum
Ideally people can leave semi-permanent marks on the website
Website does not have user profiles
Website does store user information
This should be temporary, fully erasable when user clears their cache
Storing information in the cache can allow the website to reflect a user's past experience on the website
